FAQ
Installing MT5 or stuck on login? Straight answers for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS—Chinese UI, install steps, servers, EAs, and strategy testing.
What is MT5?
MetaTrader 5 (MT5) is MetaQuotes’ multi-asset trading platform—charts, technical analysis, order tools, and automation. What you can trade depends on your broker.
Is MT5 free to download?
The MT5 app itself is free to download. Live trading with a broker can still mean spreads, commissions, or other fees—check your broker’s terms.
Which operating systems does MT5 support?
MT5 runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, and there’s also a browser WebTerminal. Install steps and features vary by platform.
Where can I get a Chinese MT5 client?
Always download from the official MetaTrader 5 pages. We share Chinese setup tips and version picks—we’re not the MetaQuotes website.
How is MT5 different from MT4?
MT5 differs from MT4 on timeframes, pending orders, market depth, analytics, and strategy testing. They also use different automation languages—choose based on your broker and how you trade.
Do I need an account after installing MT5?
You can install first and click around the interface. To see live or demo prices, you’ll usually log in with broker details or open a demo/live account with them.
What is an MT5 demo account?
A demo account uses virtual funds so you can learn the platform and try ideas. Demo fills can differ from live trading—they’re not a forecast of real results.
What if MT5 won’t log in?
Check your network, login, password, and server name—and make sure you picked the MT5 server your broker lists. Still stuck? Contact your broker.
Does MT5 on Mac need Wine?
According to MetaQuotes’ macOS install docs, the official Mac installer sets up the Wine environment you need. Check the latest official requirements before installing.
Can I install MT5 APK on Android?
The official Android page lists Google Play and APK options. Confirm the source on MetaQuotes’ site, and skip unverified third-party APKs.
Can I run EAs on MT5 mobile?
Building EAs, running them, and using the Strategy Tester is mainly a desktop thing. Mobile apps focus on charts, orders, and accounts—not full desktop automation.
Will MT5 trading always make money?
No. MT5 is software—it doesn’t guarantee profits. Markets move, leverage adds risk, and you should read the product and risk disclosures before trading.
